Bydgoska Orkiestra Muzyki Współczesnej

The idea of creating a new band performing contemporary music is the result of observation of musical events in Bydgoszcz. Bydgoszcz music scene for many years is known for its openness to new activities, however, the events associated with contemporary music derived from the so-called "classical" music take place very rarely, and pass without much hype. Bydgoszcz Contemporary Music Orchestra is a band created to perform the contemporary music of young and unknown composers as well as of the classics in this field. The orchestra in the selection of its repertoire aims at finding really exceptional artists who may not necessarily be a part of the group of composers whose works are usually played by orchestras in Poland.

The team always is specially adapted to the program, which will be performed, so that each performance gets its own individual character, and the musicians are not forced to play compositions whose practice does not satisfy them. This assumption allows to achieve the emotional nature of the work at each of its performance. Number of musicians in the group depends on the performed material. The "orchestra" can count two people, and in another case, for example, sixty. Establishment of this group is to create opportunities to listen to monumental works performed on large stages and small pieces performed in the comfort of quiet rooms. In the future it is planned to invite renowned soloists and conductors to performances with the Bydgoszcz Contemporary Music Orchestra. The band's aim is to take steps to ensure that this team represents the highest level of performance and gains popularity throughout the country and abroad.
