Helmut Nadolski

Afanasiew at Coast Students' Club 'Żak'; at that time – in the late 50's he became friends with Czesław Wydrzycki. Niemen believed that Nadolski 'breaks commonly approved schemes of playing double bass. He is the master of his instrument. He created his own music marked with simply unbelievable strength... He is the sensitive artist gifted with the great imagination – the musician who paints with sounds the pictures of his deeply personal vision...' Mateusz Święcicki wrote that: 'Nadolski's music can be included into the circle of the "serious music", but I believe, that its spontaneity and naturalness wouldn't fit into overintellectualized atmosphere of the "new music", where discovering the innovation is more important than emotional expression. In that meaning Nadolski connects the two opposite poles – avantgardism and emotionalism.'
