Tomasz Pawlicki

Tomasz Pawlicki began his musical education in 1978 in Henryk Wieniawski's Państwowe Liceum Muzyczne where he finished a class of flute lead by Lucyna Pławner. Then, he began his studies on Feliks Nowowiejski's Music Academy in Bydgoszcz in the class lead by professor Andrzej Łęgowski, from which he graduated in 1989. Currently, Pawlicki is a soloist musician – he plays in the Opera Nova Orchestra in Bydgoszcz, where he has been working since 1988. In the field of so called classical music he participated in many projects related to the activity of orchestra bands, in Poland and abroad. He co-operated with Capella Bydgostiensis, Toruńska Orkiestra Kameralna, Warszawska Orkiestra Kameralna, Filharmonia Pomorska, Filharmonia Bałtycka, Opera Szczecińska, Opera Wrocławska, Teatr Polski in Bydgoszcz and others. As an artist he is connected with many fields and genres of art, not only in the purely musical meaning. Since 1992 he belongs to a group of people who are concentrated around Bydgoszcz's club MÓZG. He joined the ephemeric group Trytony (T. Gwinciński, S. Janicki, J. Buhl), then as a flute player and pianist he co-created the group Maestro Trytony with Gwinciński, Rafał Gorzycki, Tomek „Święty” Hesse i Renata Suchodolska. The result of this work are two albums 'Enoptronia' and 'Heart Of Gold', as well as their presence on many festivals in Poland and abroad. His activity also includes various projects like performance, installations, visualisations, music for theatre pieces and tv shows (in cooperation with T. Gwinciński, T. Tymański, M. Trzaska). Pawlicki also performed on Bogusław Schaeffer's night held at MÓZG, with a music and visual project entitled 'Noc kończąca Świat' (The night that ends the world). He is also a member of Ecstasy Project group, the leader of which is Rafał Gorzycki. With this band Pawlicki has played concerts in Poland and abroad (Germany, Austria, Hungary).

Pawlicki takes part in consecutive editions of Mózg Festival as a composer and performer (2007 – string quartett and visualisation, Maciek Walczak and Kwartet Pomorski; 2009 author's project 'Pan Pianino' with the company of Łukasz Górewicz, Qba Janicki, Patryk Węcławek). He also takes part in a project Child Of Classic & Dubstep organised by WSG and APK in Bydgoszcz. The first part of the project, a concert in Teatr Polski in Bydgoszcz has taken place in may 2010. Material from this event was recorded on DVD. It is a peculiar fusion of classical music and the activity of DJ's in the field of dubstep music. In 2011 he met with Artur Maćkowiak – a former member of Something Like Elvis group. A result of their meeting was an album 'The Duluoz Legend', for which an inspiration were the texts of an American writer Jack Kerouac, the creator of the era 'Beat Generation'. For the recordings, the musicians invited a classical string quartett and a well-known german performer Johannes Deimling. The duo Pawlicki/Maćkowiak has performed a few times on the stage of Bydgoszcz's Mózg. In the summer of 2012 Tomasz Pawlicki performed in front of the Galeria Handlowa Drukarnia. His performance was entitled 'Live Act' and at this event he was cooperating with a young Cracow based visualisation's creator Wobix. Pawlicki's newest pieces, which you can listen to on SoundCloud ('Metalplasm and Apmlitude Formaline) were performed then. Currently, he is getting ready to show his new material inspired by the activity of John Cage and will be presenting it during this year's edition of Mózg Festival.
