Mia Zabelka is an Austrian violinist, vocalist and composer. She is at the forefront of
international electro-acoustic performance art. She developed her unique musical language
in a process she calls "automatic playing”, where the music grows out of her body and
gestures and finds its expression in her electric violin with electronic devices, alien objects,
vocals, and/or acoustic violin. Using this setup she is given the opportunity to expand the
sound range so extensively that the violin itself becomes an interface, an electronic sound
generator and thus a sound machine. Her previous collaborators include Elliott Sharp, Dälek,
Phill Niblock, Pauline Oliveros, Robin Rimbaud, Electric Indigo, John Russell, Maggie Nicols
and Lydia Lunch. She has given concerts and performances at many Festivals throughout
Europe, America and Asia. Numerous CD, vinyl and video. She received highly regarded
prizes (3- time winner of the Prix Ars Electronica) and awards. She was a guest of the DAAD’s
(German Academic Exchange Service’s) international artists’ programme in Berlin and the
Fulbright Commission in New York. Recently Mia Zabelka was awarded The Akademia Music
Award 2018 for her composition "For Pauline Oliveros”, commissioned by Steirischer Herbst/
Musikprotokoll and Austrian Cultural Forum New York. Mia Zabelka is currently the artistic
director of Phonofemme Festival Vienna and Klanghaus Untergreith in the region of South
Styria.

A two person collective of initiatives, an audio-visual duo, eclectic tape and vinyl jockeys and co-creators of Radio Kapitał, where they host a few programs (WIDMA, Tapes Matter or świeżynka). In their tape and vinyl sets you can hear sounds that were found and those that came by themselves, news that have not gotten a chance to resonate fully and echoes of forgotten music straight from 4-track tape recorders. We invite you where you haven’t been for a long time, on a winding path without signposts, without beginning and end.

Under their Malediwy moniker the duo Marek Pospieszalski and Qba Janicki graced Tricity’s Coastline Northern Cuts with the new album "Dolce Tsunami”. Unlike their debut album, which was a recording of their concert at Mózg in Bydgoszcz, "Dolce Tsunami” is a studio-recorded collage of sounds which, for the most part, cuts ties from the usual free jazz and the loosely interpreted African music vibes, and instead embraces techniques and structural mindset typical for the soundart scene. The shift partially stems from duo’s new focal point, which is amplification of acoustic instruments through piezoelectric transducers as well as guitar amps, but also from the whole process of meticulous tinkering with feedback looping, which gives this stylistically diverse sound material its warm, analog and resonating ambience.

About me:
By intended accident I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and maybe I could have told something interesting there if it wasn’t for the fact that I get bored fast
and I’m just starting to gain self-confidence just now.
I’m a comic maker as per my dreams and after hours I save parents from their children. I’m a bit crazy about Slavic culture and film music.
(you can find me on Instagram under @mikado22, the same for artstation - auto advertising)
About my work:
The funniest and the most annoying are people.
That is why it’s interesting to observe behaviours stemming from culture that are repeated in upbringing that later translate into
the physical state of the main character of one’s life. Some cope with it better, others worse - nevertheless everyone hears
similar lines or use them themselves.

International Festival of Contemporary Music and Visual Arts „Mózg Festival” is an encounter of artists who work and create in all areas of contemporary music as well as performance art and multimedia installations where music plays an important part.
Artists who participate in the festival come from all around the world. This reflects the multicultural principle of Mózg Festival and enables the audience to experience and understand different aspects of various cultures.
The festival presents the newest performance techniques and interdisciplinary combinations that relate to and honour tradition.
Among the invited artists there are outstanding characters from the artistic world as well as young artists, whose hitherto activity manifests uniqueness. We feel that an indispensable part of the festival is the participation of local artists who meet the above-mentioned expectations. All artistic activity is treated as means leading to deeper understanding of the surrounding reality and changes that occur in the world.
This year festival is held under a motto “Arts as a path to understanding”.
We believe that art, especially contemporary, is a tool that helps unlock hidden capabilites to understand everything that surrounds us. In other words, we think that art is not an objective in itself but a means to achieve certain goals and as such it plays an important social role. We assume that experiencing contemporary art that is often created during an artist’s performance allows anyone, who participates in the act of creation, both the audience and and creator, to expand their ability to think independently, which in turn consequently leads to the deeper understanding of self, people around and occurring situations.
The festival is multicultural as we believe that awareness of cultural difference and acceptance of these differences lies at the foundation of international understanding. An individual that experiences contemporary art on a daily basis and is equipped with knowledge about cultural differences that occur within the surrounding community and has a chance to live consciously among others, as a member of a developing multicultural civil society that is able to make decisions regarding themselves and fellow members of the community. Such person is rid of fears and full of understanding towards the needs of other people.
